Lone Wolf Harsey T3 Ranger Tactical Knife
September 12, 2007
I
wanted to take a look back at a classic tactical folder that still in production
with a few beneficial changes. The Harsey T3 Ranger knife was awarded the
Field and Stream Best of the Best award in 2004 for its brilliant design by
custom knife maker William Harsey. Three years later, this knife is still
being offered for sale by Lone Wolf Knives.
The original was originally crafted as a field tactical knife or
a big game knife. The blade is a 4.8" drop point design made of premium
grade S30V stainless steel. Likewise for corrosion resistance the frame
locking liner and clip were all made of stainless steel. The handle is
made of a combination of nylon and black fiberglass, and has finger grooves
artfully added to the handle to provide a grip in a wide range of field
conditions. Furthermore, the handle has been made with more than grip and
comfort in mind; it is built expecting that it will be exposed to sand, dirt,
and debris. The back of the handle is open allowing these type of
contaminants to be easily washed away, ensuring that harsh conditions will not
certainly cause a failure to your knife when you need it the most.
And with regard to the changes made to this Ranger, the false
edge has been removed to give the knife a blade more suited for hunting and
other utilitarian purposes. Make no mistake though, all of the character
and feel that made the previous combat version a great success with the armed
forces have been preserved in this Harsey designed tactical. This tactical
folder Model LC14800 retails for $299.99, and comes complete with a pocket clip,
sheath, and lifetime warranty covering materials and workmanship.
This folding knife weighs in at a robust 8.4 ounces and has a closed length of
5.90 inches. The Harsey Ranger is a continuation of the knifemaking
excellence of William Harsey and Lone Wolf Knives, and this knife should
continue to be popular with hunters and armed force personnel for years to come.
