Kershaw Offset 2005 Knife of the Year
September 25, 2007
We have featured some of the most recent Blade Knife winners and wanted to
take a look back at the 2005 winner for Overall Knife of the Year. If you
are looking for a rugged every day carry, this production knife is a great
choice. While the handle is striking, the blade is the unique part of this
knife. The blade has been crafted of 440C-PM stainless steel and achieves
the unique curved and beveled look by means of state of the art Metal Injection
Molding or MIM and hot isostatic pressing. The result is a sizeable 3 3/4"
blade with unique curvature for a variety of cutting needs. The concave
curve of the blade nearest the handle is perfect for cutting rope or cording or
whittling wood. The convex curve nearest the tip of the blade is perfect
for hacking or slicing motions, and the tip is sturdy and sizeable enough for
puncturing. The handle is a machined G10 which has been machined into a
very sturdy grip.
The closed length of the blade is 5 1/4" and the weight is a robust 8.5
ounces. The Kershaw Offset is Model 1597G10 has a MSRP of $299.95.
This is an award winning heavy bladed folding knife with an innovative blade and
look, perfect as a tactical blade or an every day carry knife for personal
security or security personnel. The blade is suitable for a variety of
cuts and has a dependable lock mechanism for secure locking. Innovation
meets Strength; a winning combination.
